City of Los Angeles Emergency Alert: The National Weather Service has forecast that a major storm will impact the City of Los Angeles beginning Monday, February 16, through at least Friday, February 20. The worst of the storm is anticipated on Monday, February 16, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The Los Angeles region is expected to receive 2-4 inches of rain, with 4-8 inches possible in the mountains and foothills. There is a risk of thunderstorms and debris flow across recent burn scars, where evacuation warnings are in place. Get ready for the storm and take extra precautions during the rain. Impacts in the area could include power outages, debris flows, rapidly rising water in streams and rivers, and flooding on roads and freeways.

When preparing for the storm, take the following actions:
Consider changing travel plans to avoid driving during the worst of the storm
There is potential for debris flows. Now is the time to start preparing your property
Secure your outdoor space – move furniture, umbrellas, holiday decorations, and other lightweight items to indoor or secured areas so they do not fly away
Gather emergency supplies that will allow you to shelter in place during the storm, including food, water, radios, medication, and pet supplies

During the storm, take the following actions:
Avoid driving if at all possible. Dangerous road conditions are anticipated throughout the region. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads
Bring pets inside during the storm to keep them safe
Call 911 for life-threatening situations, such as people trapped by flooding or damaged trees, and debris flows threatening buildings
